The Patriotic, Resilient,
As the first President with African-American lineage, Barack Obama’s election is
a historic landmark in a long journey of purging the terrible scourge of slavery
and racism from our nation’s soul. President Obama’s election is also historic
because of his ideology and agenda. Obama is arguably the most liberal person to
come to the White House. Ideas have consequences and Obama’s ideas, we predict,
will have historic and perhaps devastating consequences on our nation.
We Resist! With Obama and the Democrats in Congress already embarking on the implementation of their agenda, Grassfire.org and hundreds of thousands of citizens across this nation unashamedly announce our Resistance.
On behalf of the 57 million Americans who did not vote for President Obama and do not agree with this leftist ideology, we will resist his efforts to move our nation away from our heritage of individual liberties toward “brave new world” of collectivism. How To Rightly Resist Just as important as the fact that we will resist is how we will resist. That is why we are calling this a “Patriotic, Resilient, Conservative Resistance.” First, we will maintain our patriotism. This is our nation. We love and cherish our country. Many of us bleed “red, white and blue.” We will not act like our opponents who heaped personal attack after personal attack on President George W. Bush and demonized the man. In fact, we will strive to show respect to President Obama and focus our criticisms and resistance on issues that impact our nation. Similarly, we will not, like our opponents, reject Barack Obama’s Presidency and dismiss it as somehow unjust, immoral or illegitimate. It is disgraceful that many of our opponents would never accept Bush as a legitimate President. It is despicable that the person who lost the 2000 election could still be heard, in 2008, questioning the legitimacy of that election. Conservatives have too much respect for the Office of the Presidency. Conservatives are not rebellious – we understand authority. This will be a patriotic resistance – a struggle of ideas that will stay with our American “family”. Second, we will be resilient. From Day One, we will be there, watching every move, monitoring every action. We will not be chided into silence by the personal attacks on conservatives, our leaders or our motives. We will stand for principle. And we will not back down. Third, this will be a Conservative Resistance. Our resistance will not be partisan, it will be ideological. The real political struggle underway is one of a clash of worldviews—collective liberalism and freedom-based conservatism. We are not here to fight for the Republican Party to take over once again – certainly not the Republican Party that failed so miserably on so many fronts in recent years. We will resist on the basis of ideas alone, not political games. We have been stripped of our political authority which actually frees us to stand on principle first and foremost. An Equipped Resistance Grassfire.org has launched this “Join The Resistance” campaign to give grassroots conservatives a place to join together around the common goal of holding off as much of the Obama agenda as possible. Our goal is to bring together 1 million Resisters in all -- 500,000 by Inauguration Day. That would give us one-tenth of the 10 million Obama loyalists who were recruited during the campaign, but we believe 1 million equipped Resisters can make a difference. The key will be providing web-based structures that truly equip conservatives to Resist. We begin here – by building this email network to give us the ability to respond immediately to each and every effort by the Obama administration to undermine our liberties. We recently added a social networking platform called ResistNet.com to connect Resisters to others in their communities. We are also exploring ways to put the tools of the Resistance into your hands through mobile phone-based apps that allow you to Resist on the go. We will use fax, email, phone, and personal visit campaigns to press our case with leaders in Washington, D.C., who need to know that millions oppose Obama’s rush to the Left. Many have asked us to provide branded resources such as hats and t-shirts to help spread the “Join the Resistance” movement. If you have suggestions on any of the above, please let us know . Resist, Rebuild, Restore Resisting is just the first step. That is why we propose a three-phased recovery for conservatives: Resist, Rebuild, and Restore. We believe that resisting will create newfound unity among conservatives. Out of this, we must then Rebuild our structures. New, invigorating models must be developed that inform, equip and bring together conservatives and prepare us to return our ideas to political prominence. The Internet will be a key battleground The Left has moved far ahead in its embrace of and usage of new 2.0 technologies. The Rebuild process will leave Americans with a clear ideological and practical choice between the Left’s statist model and our model based on God-given individual liberties. Having rebuilt, we can then Restore conservative ideas to leadership by winning elections. Ultimately, a movement’s ideas must result in electoral victories because that is the basis for legitimate authority and ultimately for implementing one’s ideas. Grassfire.org will soon be announcing a breakthrough effort that will allow our members to get engaged directly in the election process. Stay tuned. Resist. Rebuild. Restore. It’s not an easy path for grassroots conservatives, but it is a clear path. We know what we must do. And it begins with resisting rightly —respecting the new President but never backing away from the God-given ideals of freedom and liberty upon which this nation was founded. Join the Resistance. |
