NATIONAL CAMPAIGN TO STOP ILLEGAL INTERNET PORN

About the Petition:

The Internet is under siege from pornographers who are illegally using your computer to harm your family and your children. In an effort to safeguard our homes, children, families, businesses, schools and libraries from unwanted and illegal online pornography, Grassfire has launched a national petition to stop Illegal Internet Porn.

To date, we’ve delivered hundreds of thousands of petitions, and met with key leaders in both the U.S. Justice Department and the Senate—DEMANDING REAL ACTION BE TAKEN AGAINST THE PROLIFERATION OF INTERNET PORN.

Our efforts have made a positive impact, but there is more work to be done—especially considering the recent ruling by the U.S. Supreme Court barring enforcement of the Child Online Protection Act.

URGENT ACTION ITEM: 50,000 New Petitions Needed!

Grassfire will be presenting 500,000 grassroots petitions in support of Rep. Joe Barton’s important private sector initiative that is closing down child pornography web sites. Grassfire is asking team members to help us rally an additional 50,000 petitions leading up to the presentation within the next 30 days.

Petition Signers to date:  429,902

The Petition States:

As a concerned citizen, I am taking a personal stand against the proliferation of Internet Pornography. I ask that you do everything in your power to protect my family and the children of America, who sadly are most often the innocent victims. We ask that you move to:

  • OUTLAW ALL UNSOLICITED PORNOGRAPHIC E-MAILS.

  • UPHOLD A BAN ON COMPUTER-GENERATED CHILD PORNOGRAPHY.

  • UPHOLD A BAN ON THE USE OF PUBLIC COMPUTERS TO VIEW PORNOGRAPHY, AND REQUIRING ALL PUBLIC PLACES (SCHOOLS, LIBRARIES) TO INSTALL PORNOGRAPHY-FILTERING SOFTWARE.

  • PASS LEGISLATION THAT PROTECTS CHILDREN FROM INTERNET-RELATED CRIMES.

Cap and trade: It's an economic catastrophe
When it comes to environmental policy, politicians will rely on your good intentions on the issue and not much else. With cap-and-trade, however, the economic tradeoffs are so damaging, the environmental benefits so negligible and the plan such a clutter, that selling it — even to Democrats — is turning out to be difficult.
