Americans United to …
Support Judge Samuel Alito

URGENT ACTION: Counter the anti-family, anti-faith groups that are mobilizing against him!

The Issue:
Alito Defends
Thanksgiving Poster

Conservatives are praising President Bush for his nomination of 3rd Circuit Appeals Court Judge Samuel Alito to replace retiring Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor.

Noted for his strict judicial conservatism, Alito has been dubbed "Scalito" because his judicial philosophy is similar to that of justice, Antonin Scalia.

Sign the Petition!
Already liberals have gone on the attack blasting him as “too radical”. To ensure that Judge Alito receives a timely up-or-down vote in the Senate, and to counter the aggressive actions of anti-family, anti-faith organizations that are already condemning him, Grassfire is mobilizing 300,000 grassroots Americans to sign our “Support Judge Alito” petition that will be presented to the Senate Judiciary Committee as soon as we reach our goal.

URGENT: Grassfire is calling on team members to call their Senators--urging them to reject liberal efforts to impose a litmus test on Judge Alito. Call the Capitol Switchboard at 202-224-3121 to be connected to your Senator. When calling be sure to identify yourself as a member of Grassfire!

Please sign today and alert your friends (our system will track your impact as it grows!).
The Petition States:

As a citizen of the United States, I support President Bush’s nomination of Judge Samuel Alito, and urge the U.S. Senate to conduct fair and timely hearings for those nominations in lower federal courts and the U.S. Supreme Court who:

  1. Uphold the original meaning and intent of the Constitution and reject the so-called "living Constitution" model that allows judges to apply their own meaning to our founding document;
  2. Uphold the intended jurisdiction of the courts as outlined by the Constitution and are committed to reversing the imperial court and the doctrine of judicial supremacy on all societal matters.
  3. Are men and women of upstanding moral character who adhere to the historic values of our nation.

Furthermore, to create a climate of public accountability in all U.S. Courtrooms, I support the placement of television cameras in the U.S. Supreme Court and all federal courts during proceedings.
